My Cockapoo was always scratching. Especially during this recent heat wave. We thought she was just too hot so got her groomed and her coat trimmed. The girl at the shop said her skin was very sore looking and she recommended trying these treats. She has been on them 2 weeks and the scratching has completely stopped. Great when you find something that actually works. Thanks folks. 10/10 from me
Our local vets sells these. They recommended we try them to stop our 1 year old from scratching day and night. They seem to be helping. Will do another review in a month.
Just like to say a big “thank you” to Highv. What’s not to like, came next day, some free bits for us and the dog, the guy on the phone was super helpful and our little girl is no longer scratching herself silly. A friend recommended this company and said the products were good. She was right. Thanks again. Amazing company and products.
We tried everything to try and stop our Frenchie scratching herself raw. The vet gave us some medication cream and then some liquid for her food but it just didn’t help. I saw these online and decided this had to be worth a try. 2 weeks later and she is 100% fixed (well 90% at least). Why don’t vets recommend these products? They’re apparently all natural and worked better than chemicals? Thanks Highv, you are a life saver.
My chocolate lab has had a sore looking patch for nearly a year. We’d tried a cream and it did slightly help but still licking it constantly. These seem to be helping so far. It definitely seems a lot better and she seems to have stopped with the licking etc. Long may it last

A dog’s coat is one of the more honest indicators of what is going on underneath. Skin is a demanding tissue — it renews constantly, and it is often the first place a shortfall shows.
Common causes of dull coat and irritated skin include diet lacking in essential fatty acids, seasonal allergens, parasites, environmental irritants, over-bathing, and stress. Some are straightforward to address at home; others are not.
Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids matter here because the skin’s barrier layer is partly built from them. A dog short on them tends to lose moisture through the skin more readily, which shows as dryness, flaking and a coat that has lost its shine. Salmon oil is one of the better-absorbed sources.
Worth being clear: persistent itching, hot spots, hair loss in patches or broken skin need a vet, not a supplement. Allergies and parasites are diagnosed, not fed away.
Daily skin and coat support tends to be worth it for:
Coat renewal is slow. A hair that is already dull will not improve — what changes is the condition of the hair grown after you start, which is why this category rewards patience more than most.
A named oil, with an amount. "Omega oils" on a label could mean almost anything. Salmon oil, stated in milligrams, tells you what you are buying. Each of our chews carries 300mg.
Vitamin E alongside the oil. Fatty acids oxidise, and vitamin E helps protect them. A product with oils and no vitamin E has missed something basic.
Nothing working against the coat. Artificial colours and unnecessary fillers add nothing to a skin supplement.
Daily feedability. Liquid oils are effective but messy, go rancid once opened and are frequently abandoned. A soft chew a dog takes willingly gets fed for the twelve weeks it needs.
Honest positioning. No supplement treats allergies or skin disease. Anything claiming otherwise is overreaching.
How long until my dog’s coat improves?
Expect eight to twelve weeks. Coat grows slowly and you are changing the quality of new growth rather than repairing existing hair. Skin condition sometimes responds sooner.
Will this stop my dog itching?
It supports the skin barrier, which can help dogs whose itching stems from dryness. It will not resolve itching caused by allergies, fleas, mites or infection — those need a vet.
Will it reduce shedding?
All dogs shed, and a supplement will not stop it. What better coat condition can do is reduce breakage and excessive loss, so shedding becomes more normal than dramatic.
Can I use it with a medicated shampoo?
Generally yes, and the two work on different things — one on the skin surface, one from the inside. If your vet prescribed the shampoo, mention the supplement to them.
Is salmon oil safe daily?
Salmon oil is widely fed to dogs at sensible amounts and is well tolerated. Ours is dosed by weight so you are not estimating.
